How does it work?

Send an email to frank@fsmqfragrances.com to get started. You’ll have a one-on-one consultation with our perfumer, Frank Salamone, by audio or video call (or email if you prefer, though a live conversation tends to yield better results). Frank is very easygoing and will make this call a pleasant and comfortable experience. Prior to this call, Frank will send you a questionnaire to complete to help make the most of your consultation. 

Next, Frank will prepare three samples for your review. These will need to age for about a week before they’re sent to you to give the fragrance time to mature. Please take as much time to review these as you like. We suggest wearing each a few times to get a true sense of what you think of them (just like music, sometimes you start off hating something only to find you love it, or vice versa).  

If one of the three is exactly what you’re looking for, that’s great! But don’t despair if none is exactly right. Think of the samples as sketches for a scent portrait you’ve commissioned, and you’re giving feedback on which direction to go.  

Frank will then prepare three more samples based on your feedback. The service includes up to three rounds of three samples each (the first round and two revision rounds). Three rounds is almost always enough to create your perfect scent. However, additional rounds can be purchased for $90 per round, which includes shipping.

Once we’ve settled on the perfect fragrance, Frank will blend a full-size, 100 ml bottle of it for you, plus a refillable 10 ml atomizer for you to carry with you.

What’s included?

The service includes:

• A one-on-one consultation with our perfumer, plus a pre-consultation questionnaire

• Three rounds of samples and revisions (three samples each round) (additional rounds available for $90 each)

• A 100 ml bottle of your fragrance

• A refillable 10 ml travel atomizer

• The opportunity to purchase refills at any time

• Exclusivity; you will be the only one wearing this scent

• Domestic U.S. shipping (international shipping available at an extra fee)

• If given as a gift, a gift certificate in a gift envelope

What does it cost?

The service is priced at $750, including domestic U.S. shipping. Currently, this is taxable only in Maryland. 

You can purchase refills of your fragrance for $65 for 50 ml or $100 for 100 ml. We’ll keep the formula on file, and we won’t sell the fragrance to anyone but you (unless you first give your permission). 

After purchasing at least two refills, you may purchase the formula for $250 if you choose. 

There is an additional charge for shipping outside the United States, which we’ll keep as low as possible, and for any import duties that may apply. These charges will vary based on the country. Also, depending on your country’s shipping regulations, we may split the 100 ml between smaller bottles.

Can I buy this as a gift?

Yes! If you like, we can prepare a certificate in a handsome envelope and/or send the recipient an email on the date of your choosing.

How long does the whole process take?

The entire process, start to finish, usually takes about three months. This allows adequate time for you to wear the samples, plus a week for each round of samples to mature. However, there’s no charge if you need more time to complete the process. Similarly, we may be able to speed up the process if you want to have a finished fragrance by a certain date.

What if I want to do something different, like buy smaller bottles as gifts for my wedding party or clients?

We’re flexible and can work with you to tweak this service, such as if you’re looking to design a fragrance to give as gifts to a wedding party, group of friends, as corporate gifts, etc. Please email frank@fsmqfragrances.com to discuss your project and obtain pricing.
