Gaithersburg, Md. -- FSMQ Fragrances, a new niche fragrance company, will launch on Black Friday with two brands -- Adamantis and Ex Libris -- and three scents.
The Ex Libris brand will focus on scents that embody literary characters. The brand’s debut scents -- Whyborne and Griffin -- are inspired by the best-selling Whyborne & Griffin series from author Jordan L. Hawk, which tells the tale of a museum scholar and private detective who find love as they unravel paranormal mysteries in Victorian New England.
“By partnering with authors to create scents based on their work, we're giving fans a new way to connect with their favorite characters and authors a new way to connect with their fan base,” perfumer Frank Salamone said in a statement about his work.
Adamantis will feature innovative scents from perfumer Frank Salamone. The debut offering is called Reborn.
“My goal is to empower self-expression through fragrance,” Salamone said.
Whyborne combines the best marine notes with a spicy oriental base. Primary notes are ambergris, seabreeze, agarwood, sea salt, rose, ginger, pepper and labdanum.
Mysterious, strong and sensual, Griffin opens with the seductive scent of sandalwood. Heady bergamot and rich leather combine with vegan interpretations of period-authentic musks for a Victorian sensibility.
Offered in eau de parfum strength, Griffin is a fragrance of love and adventure. Primary notes are sandalwood, bergamot, leather, civet, castoreum and Victorian musks.
Reborn breathes new life into the legend of the phoenix. Blending classic perfumery ingredients with new innovations in fine fragrance, Reborn takes a high perch in the dry woody family of fragrances.
Its opening is phenolic and ethereal, with spicy cinnamon leaf and pink pepper combining with orange flower ether.
Deeper orange blossom/neroli notes emerge, yielding next to the resinous warmth of sichuan pepper and olibanum. In the dry down, the olibanum lingers as the smokiness of oud and Texas cedar come to the fore for a dry, uplifting finish.
Offered in parfum concentration, primary notes are oud, Texas cedar, olibanum, sichuan pepper, pink pepper, cinnamon leaf, orange blossom and neroli.
